My name is Rom Gostomski. I am a GPR Consultant living in Andalucia, Spain. I am a keen photographer and also design stunning websites.
In 2017 my life changed dramatically. I moved to Spain with my wife and Chester, our springer spaniel. It was the most difficult decision I ever had to make, but at the same time, it was one of the easiest. How so? Well, after a lifetime of living and working in the UK, I needed a change and a new challenge.
We had bought a holiday home in Spain a few years earlier, so things kind of fell into place… However, it was not all plain sailing. The house was anabandoned restoration project (due to the financial crisis at the time). It was a shell with no plumbing, wiring, doors; no way was it habitable. Find out more about living in Spain.
My work
With 40 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Building Inspection and Ground Penetrating Radar, I was fortunate to be able to work as a GPR Consultant from Spain. Find out more about my GPR Consultancy.
My Interests
My interests include: photography, hill walking, discovering Spain and Morris Minors. I had three Morris Minors; sadly I had to sell the cars when we moved to Spain. It would have been very complicated to inport and register them in Spain.
I have always been interested in photography. I just love creating pictures. When I started my love affair with photography, it was all film, then digital took over. Recently, I have started shooting film again. There is something special about using film that I find more rewarding.
I also love exploring Spain, My new home. It’s a wonderful and fascinating country. So much to explore and see. I have a seperate photo-blog about the places I have been to in Spain, Spanish culture, food and tapas. Find out more at Tapas in the Sun.
We have two dogs. Chester, a Springer Spaniel who came over with us from the UK. Within a year this increased to two. It is a sad fact that many dogs are abandoned in Spain. We found one such poor mite scavenging for food in our village. We took pity on her and adopted her. We named her Flo (Florencia). She’s turning out OK!
