OK. Not strictly true. I did shoot B&W film before, but that was over 35 years ago! It’s been a long time!
Why did I decide to shoot film again? The main reasons probably are:
- Nostalgia
- I love the way film photos look. The grain, sharp but with a soft edge… It’s difficult to put your finger on it, but there is something special about film.
So I bought a Nikon FE2 camera and some hp5 film and gave it a go. Read more about why I’m shooting film again.
The day I got the scanned images back from the photo lab was a big day. I had been looking forward to it for two weeks (that’s how long it took to get the images back after posting the film). It was like Christmas.
So what were they like? Well, I’m happy! The exposures were all pretty much spot on (remember this is an old camera and it was the first time I had used it). But judge for yourselves. The following is a selection.
