The Área Recreativa del río Cuadros (Cuadros River Recreation Area) is approximately 5 km south of the town of Bedmar. It is located in the valley that forms the Cuadros River, in the heart of the Sierra Mágina Natural Park.
The recreational area is a lovely shady spot with plenty of picnic tables by the river. It’s a great spot for a picnic. When I was there, a cafe or an information centre was under construction and the access roads were being improved.
The area is famous for its oleanders and there is a pleasant walk through virtually a “tunnel” of oleanders, the so-called “Path of the Adelfares”. Just a short walk away is the source of the Sistillo, one of the springs of the Cuadros river.
